What is Mechanical Engineering?
The study of physical machines that involve force and movement is called Mechanical engineering. It is the broadest and oldest branch of engineering that is a combination of mathematical principles with materials science, and engineering physics to design, manufacture, analyze, and maintain mechanical systems.
Mechanical engineering deals with the core area understanding including mechanics, materials science, thermodynamics, structural analysis, design, and dynamics. Micro electro-mechanical systems (MEMS), Friction stir welding (FSW), Composites, Mechatronics, Nanotechnology, Finite element analysis, Biomechanics, Computational fluid dynamics, and Acoustical engineering are some areas of research technology for producing safer, more efficient, and cheaper machines and mechanical systems.
Mechanical Engineers design, build, develop, research, and test mechanical and thermal devices which includes machines and engines. They should typically analyze problems, Design or redesign mechanical and thermal devices using CAD (Computer Aided Design), Develop and test design prototypes, Analyze the test results and change if needed, Oversee the manufacturing device process, and manage a team in specialized fields of professionals.
Mechanical engineering companies are making use of the modern tools of computer-aided engineering (CAE) programs including 2D and 3D solid modelling computer-aided design (CAD) in their existing design and analyzing process.
Government Jobs for Mechanical Engineers 2024
Govt Job for Diploma Mechanical Engineer
A diploma in Mechanical Engineering is different from a regular engineering course. The study of a three years polytechnic course after completing the 10th standard is a Diploma in Mechanical engineering. Admission to the polytechnic is gained by the rank obtained by the candidate in a State entrance exam. The government jobs for a diploma Mechanical Engineer can be chosen from Coal India Limited, Steel Authority of India Limited, State Public Service Commissions, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, etc.

Fresh Mechanical Engineers are provided with many vacancies in the government sector as the Engineering course of the Mechanical branch is everlasting. The new engineers of the mechanical branch can choose the govt sector jobs like Design Engineer, Process Engineer, Waste Management Engineer, Robotics Programmer, Environmental health and safety director, Maintenance Engineer, etc.
Govt Jobs for Experienced Mechanical Engineers
Due to the advanced improved technology, the value of Mechanical Engineering has increased. Sometimes Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Automotive Engineering are grouped with Mechanical Engineering. The knowledge of young graduates will be helpful in other areas to get a government job for experienced persons. The government jobs are chosen mostly by aspirants with experience as they can get settled with a nice salary package and other available facilities.
Government Jobs for Mechanical Engineers without GATE
The GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a gateway for engineering students for pursuing M.E, M.Tech, and Ph.D. courses. The applicants who clear the GATE exam can undertake jobs in Public Sector Undertakings (PSU). Some government jobs for Mechanical Engineering are available in various sectors even though the aspirants are not qualified in the GATE exam. In this manner many opportunities are available for the engineering students who are with the mechanical engineering branch can catch the correct opportunity to get settled in the future.
